Heres a basic surf routine that we have personally used to get better 🔥

This routine will give you basic strength and flexibility for your pop up 🐬

Routine:
Supermans x 15 repetitions
Cobra/Yoga Pose x 30 seconds
Kneel and Step x 15 slow and stable repetitions
Peeling Into Stance x 15 slow and stable repetitions
Deep Lounges x 30 second hold each side
Foot Higher x 30 second hold each side
Lounges On Feet x 30 second hold each side
Toes touches x 15 each side
Push Ups x 15
Repeat everything X3

There you go! Do this before you surf, drink coffee, or fall asleep and you will get more flexible for basic surf movements!!! 🏄‍♂️ 🔥

How to choose your surf board ⬇️

1. Know your skill level.

You’ll need to have a decent amount of experience and self awareness to know your own skill level. Get a friend to film you so you can see what you are doing or take notice on what you are currently learning/practicing to do.

2. Understand your body

The body is a huge factor as to how we surf and is something to keep in mind. Generally you will need to understand your weight, height, and flexibility. The heavier you are the more volume you’ll need so more thickness. The taller and thicker the person the longer and wider the board. For those with certain body blockages like tight hips or stiff ankles, maybe get a generally bigger board for more control and to practice.

3. Where you surf regularly

This one really isn’t talked about enough. One of the main issues you might be having with your surfing could stem from using the wrong board for the wrong type of wave. If the wave is steeper or maybe its more flat then look into more maneuverable short boards or more buoyant long boards.

4. Time of year / Season

Typically when summer time rolls around we dont see much here in California but in winter, it gets really fun. Nothing better than just getting absolutely demolished in 6 foot shore brake. so try not to be an idiot and buy short board during the summer maybe hold onto your longboard year-round

5. Lastly style

no style is important and at this point, you probably are good enough to know what kind of board you want or need. So it’s really up to you, but for those that are aiming for a certain surfing style maybe look into what kind of board would help youget there.

Some of you may be skeptical if this is us. We will be confirming this once we get a good swell 😩

for now you will just have to believe us.

We have given some more thought to what we want to give you guys and so here it is!

IF YOU WANT TO GET BETTER AT SURFING WE WILL HELP YOU!

In the future we will have regular surf coaching sessions with the option of video recording and video analysis. That way you can really see how your technique and practice in the water looks.

We hope to find partners and team up to send you guys on preplanned full-day trips! Bringing you guys to discover cool surf spots where you can learn more about conditions and wave formations.

In the long term we will also be looking at doing surf retreats, first nationally, then internationally. As we have a surprisingly vast network of friends in Polynesia, French Polynesia, Indonesia, and Europe!

As we spend our last sunny days warmly enjoying the beach. We know there are waves out on the horizon. Winter is coming, so be prepared for some sick clips of the boys.

More importantly right now is a great time of year to start learning how to surf.

As the waves are still small, this is good practice ground for us. Once the waves are bigger, this is gonna be a good time to start dialing in on our technique.

Wow, it’s been an incredible first week! Initially, we dreamed of starting a new surf school, but after some thought, we wanted to create something more. With our skills and connections with local surfers and instructors, we’re excited to shift our focus to building a vibrant community around surfing, the beach, and the sun.

One of Mother Nature’s most powerful influences is the moon. She rips the tides and shatters the boys' surf sesh expectations. She’s indifferent to our plans, but we can’t help but appreciate her power and beauty. 🌙

We all probably learned this back in 6th-grade science, but the moon has a huge influence on both the ocean and us humans.

So, here’s a little refresher—and how you can work with it:

1️⃣ Tides: The moon’s gravity pulls the ocean, causing tides to rise and fall. High tide can bring bigger waves, while low tide exposes sandbars, causing the waves to be absolutely TRASH 😢, but still, chill times at the beach.

2️⃣ Wave Conditions: Spring tides (during full and new moons) create higher highs and lower lows—so, expect more powerful waves and @kellyslater ripping a 360 going Mach 1 while getting towed into a 30ft swell.

3️⃣ Ocean Vibes: Some say the moon affects our moods and energy levels, especially during a full moon. Fun fact: full moons are linked to better creativity and heightened emotions! 🌕

4️⃣ Safety First: The moon’s impact on tides can make certain spots more dangerous, especially for beginners. Be mindful of the wave size when you get to the beach, and for beginner surfers, make sure to check the tide charts before heading out. Winter swells can be particularly gnarly!

Stung by a stingray today! 🦈

Big thanks to the amazing lifeguards who gave me warm water and let me vibe on the back of their truck while the pain eased off.

For those who don’t know, Santa Monica’s waters have small stingrays that chill in the sand. They’ve got sharp barbs at the end of their tails, which they use for self-defense. Fun fact: their venom is broken down by heat, hence the warm water treatment.

But don’t let that scare you from the ocean! It’s really not as bad as it sounds. I’ll be back in the water tomorrow, just a bit more mindful this time. 😅

Heres how to avoid a sting?

1️⃣ Shuffle your feet as you walk in the water—stingrays feel vibrations and will swim away before you step on them.

2️⃣ Consider a magnetic ankle band like @sharkbandz, which creates a field stingrays and sharks can sense.

I got stung because I was careless and stepped on a stingray’s tail. The pain was like a deep, sharp cut, followed by cramps up my leg that lasted about 1.5 hours. But after a couple of hours and some warm water, I was back on my feet—literally.

Lesson learned: shuffle those feet! 🦶🌊
